Victorian Rural Generalist Program:
The Murray to the Mountains Intern program is considered Rural Generalist Training Year 1 (RG1) of the Victorian Rural Generalist Program (VRGP) for the Hume Region.
The VRGP is a state-wide end-to-end Rural Generalist training program that allows the future Rural Generalist workforce to train, work and live in rural and regional Victoria. In addition to providing a diverse and rewarding training experience, the long-term objective of the VRGP is to increase the employment of Rural Generalists in rural health services and communities across Victoria.
The RG1 program provides a great introduction to a Rural Generalist career by providing training in both health service and community settings and working alongside Rural Generalists in small, rural and community health services.
There is no requirement to be in a GP training program to apply for RG1 positions, but you will need to be on a GP training program before taking up a Rural Generalist Advanced Training position.
